But it wasn’t long before was drawn back home to litigating civil and criminal matters in the Chicagoland area. He has recently opened new offices in Arlington Heights, Illinois.

He has been licensed to practice law in Illinois and in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois since 1983.

Soon after graduating from DePaul, Paul struck out on his own, hung out his shingle and opened a small general practice, Wharton & Ramirez, in Glenview, Illinois. There, he began his career and commenced handling a wide variety of civil and criminal matters.

Four years later, Paul joined the firm of James F. Driscoll P.C. as a senior associate attorney. There, he gained extensive experience in the courtroom while managing a large caseload of personal injury, family law, and criminal matters. He later began representing physicians and nurses before the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation.

In 1994, Paul again went out on his own, founding Paul B. Wharton & Associates, a boutique law firm specializing in complex civil and criminal litigation in the Loop, downtown Chicago. In addition to being its lead trial attorney, Paul supervised and mentored more than twenty young and aspiring litigators at his firm. During this time, Paul personally took more than 150 civil cases to jury verdict. His success rate exceeded 95%.
